Alquerque

Alquerque board

Setup:

The board is set up with the pieces placed on the intersections of the lines as shown.

Play:

A random player is chosen to move first. The pieces move one space at a time along any line and in any direction. Jumping, as in checkers, captures pieces. Multiple jumps are permitted. A player must make a capture if the opportunity presents itself. If a player fails to make a capture, the piece that should have made the jump is huffed (removed from the board) by his opponent before the opponent takes his turn. If a player has more then one possible capture, they may take either with no penalty. The game is over when one player has no pieces left.
